Wouldn't it be neat if...

This month in my business plan development class we are learning how to incorporate all of the business skills we have learned, from previous classes, to developed and build our own business plan. From writing out our company descriptions to figuring out the financials, of when our business will begin to turn a profit.

One of the main things I learned this month was how much my business plan has changed in the course of a year. When I first came up with my business plan it was just one of those ideas of ‘wouldn’t it be neat if…’ and ‘why hasn’t anyone thought of this yet…’.  In the end, it all came down to a single sheet of paper, that was all I had written at the time, and I don’t even think it was coherent enough for someone to be able to read. It was more like a 5-year-old’s art drawing with a few words detailing what the drawing was about. It was the beginning of an idea, that would turn into something bigger. I started to notice my business concept growing when I entered it into a business pitch competition, a few months ago. At that point, it was just a small art studio. Now, in this class, that small art studio idea is something bigger. It’s a business plan that is over forty pages long that includes: a company description and strategic position, a marketing and sales strategy plan, a breakdown of the company’s operations, management, organization, and financials.

In conclusion, I learned that my business plan will continue to grow and develop into something more. I will continue to come up with new ideas, research new avenues, and discover new opportunities; to grow and expand my business as it begins to come to.
